 Flowers & Still Life

Flowers and Still Life are the perfect objects for water colour painting, their individual colour, shape and size enable the artist to enhance the colours or to knock back colours in order to bring the objects alive.

Clematis - Xerxes. This image I took from a photograph of Christer Ullin, an avid Clematis grower who kindly told me to paint away, must admit that it has taken me a long time to complete as it is summer in Holland and you have to take advantage of the sun and go out.!

Clematis-Xerxes: This stunning Clematis was painted from a photo taken by Christer Ullin who belongs to the Clematis Society. Thank you, Christer for letting me paint your photo.

I have tried to bring out the perfection of these flowers.

These Geraniums are growing at the front door to my home... they have given me such an enormous showing of blooms . . .

that's because I talk to them !!!!

I painted this daffodil from a photograph taken

by Keev Murphy in Dublin Ireland, Keev is a fabulous photographer who has this wonderful garden filled with beautiful flowers.

This is another painting of Keev's beautiful Dahlia's.

I really do love to paint her photographs, she has a perfect artist's eye for taking the right angle of her subject and capturing wonderful colours in the background.

This was a beautiful Rose that Keev took and the first painting that I painted from her Photograph . . . I do hope to be able to improve on my paintings as I go along learning.

This is the very first watercolour I attempted in 2010... I raffled it for funds for the Old Age home in Hermanus. I took this photo at my friend Linda's house of her climbing rose, they were so beautiful.

Cherries in a blue bowl, my first attempt at still life
